I ordered the overdress in scarlet garden and it is absolutely stunning. I look forward to wearing this everywhere <3 The fabric is quite stiff at first, but after a light steaming, she’s right as rain.
The overdressed is nice, I bought this one because I was scared of messing up measurements when it came to a lot of the other items in the store. All the stuff in the store is so gorgeous but the measurements feel so exasperating that I am hesitant with how costly the pieces are too so this felt like a good way to dip my toe in and make sure that I can wear this piece.
I can tell this piece is very sturdy the material feels very dense so I assume the fabric is built to last.
This is not something I would wear in the heat though, as I mentioned the fabric is dense, so the piece is pretty heavy. Fortunately most of the under dresses I have and plan to wear are very light.
The fabric is a bit coarse, granted there was documentation in my package warning me that it would be because they do not prewash items anymore. I don't recall seeing that they changed some of their process and they dont prewash items anymore when I placed my order, its totally possible I missed that simply because they have a lot of information everywhere.
Knowing that they worry about structural damage from them washing it makes me very nervous, the item also came with a link for washing instructions that I have not yet looked at.
Its a small peeve but if they bothered to put in an index card with the QR code leading to washing instructions why not just put the washing instructions in there? Is it that complicated?
My main critique is just the ties, I thought that it tied across but instead there are loops and like 4 little tassels. Now I lose everything that tiny so I replaced it with a piece of leather cord to corset myself in. I feel like either sewing the tie-ons in place or including a long piece would be better than 4 little ties especially for how expensive this was.
I feel like the print and shape of the overdressed is perfect, however for the high cost all these little extra annoyances feel like something that should not be a problem.
Trust me this is coming from someone who dresses Lolita, I have no problem shelling out crazy money for a dress but for this price all these work around feel like short cuts by the manufacturer and it rubs me the wrong way.
Hello! Thanks so much for leaving a review!
I just wanted to clarify about the washing - I noticed that in the past year or so the industrial washing process became especially rough on the fabric, because they tend to use VERY hot water and high heat. This shouldnt be an issue for people at home, especially not if you check out our instructions :) If youre used to Lolita dresses, i dont think itll be anything new for you!
For the front ties - the 4 separate ties were a delibrate choice that I made, sorry to hear you didnt like them though! This wasnt a short cut or a cost saving measure, just a design decision haha.
I hope you enjoy the overdress!
