Looking back on 2025 and forward to 2026!

6 minute read

Hey everyone! It's been a little while since ive done a blog post, but i figured the new year was a good time to get back into it.

2025 was definitely a strange year for morningwitch overall, i think! Some of my favorite items were released - like the various linen styles - and i finally got to launch cordiform (even though completing the collection took a much longer time for me than usual). On the flip side, I only completed/released one new pattern which was a little frustrating, haha! Not a stellar year for new pattern making, but i'm hoping to rectify that this coming year.

As I'm sure some of you have already seen (and are probably tired of hearing), the last few months of 2025 were a bit of a rollercoaster for team morningwitch. We had to move out of our old office pretty suddenly, right before Thanksgiving - not a particularly fantastic time to do anything considering that holiday order-placing is pretty much in full swing at that point! On top of that, the jacket restock we had planned for November ended up taking much much longer than usual in production and shipping, and our preorder fulfillment got rolled into holiday fulfillment. (ouch)

And to add further complications to the pile, the team ended up sick for a little bit, it took forever to unpack enough that we could actually start fulfillment, etc etc! December was truly as touch-and-go as it could get, but we did our best to ship out as many orders as we could before our scheduled break. I whole heartedly never, ever want to do preorders or move right before the holidays again!! Hopefully this year we will be able to expand the team as well, so we're better able to deal with massive amounts of orders even if things go wrong.

Which brings me to the current status of order fulfillment! We returned to the office on Jan 5th. As of 1/10/2026, we are still catching up on a chunk of December orders and fall preorders. It'll probably take us another week or two to fully catch up to the backlog and get things back on course, but after that we should roughly be back to our usual week to week operations. Big big thank you to everyone for the patience on waiting for orders to ship and giving us a little time to get back to emails! it's massively appreciated by our little team.

Going into 2026, I have a handful of projects/goals for the year that I'm really looking forward to sharing with all of you as things move along!

One of those goals is: making and releasing new patterns and embroidered designs. Over our little break, I had the chance to work on a fig & robin design that had been rattling around in my head for a little while - it was really reinvigorating, and felt refreshing to go into the new year with. I have so many bird and small critter related things i want to do!! Orbweaver is still in the works too, so don't worry if you've been waiting on that one :)

I'm also hoping to try out some new apparel styles this year! I have a few things in the works (some of which I've teased on social media already):

  • A printed overdress style made with a cotton/linen blend - this one is progressing really well and should be ready for the spring!

  • A new jacket style made with 100% cotton corduroy. For this one, i'm planning on toning down the embroidery and having smaller sections on the sleeve cuffs, collar and maybe placard. for those who dont like the feel of the big embroidery, or maybe just want something a little more subtle at times!
  • Big fancy dresses. More on this project once sampling moves along and I'm sure it's a viable thing.
  • More trench coats, bomber jackets and cloaks! There are some older designs that definitely need some love.
  • Embroidered knit sweater and cardigan vests!
  • Long sleeve button down shirts. This one has been SO highly requested over the years. They'll be made in the cotton/linen blend ive mentioned a few times now. yes, im using it for everything now. it's genuinely my new favorite fabric. (the colors on the below photo are a bit off, the overdress sample photo above is more color accurate)

The biggest endeavor this year is probably going to be the in-development homegoods section. Personally, I adore homegoods and ive been dying to create some for so long! One big piece of this is: the area rugs I designed years ago are returning. The mushroom design and strawberry design will be restocked, and i'm currently working on a ton of new designs too! This time around I'm envisioning things in a set, so my goal is to have one 6 ft rug and 1-3 4 ft rugs per design. They'll be sold separately but I love the idea of being able to have matching areas in a room cohesively. So far I've been sketching and designs a magnolia set and a ginkgo set, but I have others in mind too! (like scarlet garden).

Rugs have a much longer timeline than other goods because of how long they take to produce and ship, so the first homegood collection that'll be released will be: decorative pillow covers! These will come in two styles: Embroidered with 100% cotton velvet on one side and printed cotton on the other, and printed on both sides using a cotton/linen blend. Both styles are 26x26" and have a zipper closure. (This is just a cover, you'll have to get your own insert!)

Also in the works: 100% cotton duvet covers and matching pillow shams, and curtains. Hoping to have some fun sample photos of these in the coming weeks!

Outside of just new patterns and product types, I'm hoping to do something very very new in the later half of this year - morningwitch's first pop up event! We're based in NYC so we would be doing this event in our hometown to start, but if it goes well i'd love to have a pop up tour around the country. I'll most likely tie a new collection release into this and have new patterns launch at the pop up (if it happens). We'll see how things go! 👀

Thank you all so so much for the support in 2025, chaotic as it was. Hoping very much that you'll be pleased with what's to come! <3
